The recently published update of the report ‘The construction sector and ICT’ highlights the efforts made by the sector's business community to provide ICT training to their employees and increase the hiring of specialists in this field.
In this latest update made by the Construction Industry Observatory, The sector's advancement in digitalization is highlighted, thanks to the growth of certain indicators such as the hiring of a larger number of ICT specialists by businesses, or the number of companies that provide ICT training to their employees and are concerned about data security.
However, the decrease in some key indicators compared to previous editions, such as personnel using computers, social media use, open-source software utilization, cloud computing, or artificial intelligence, is concerning. Furthermore, regarding the use of highly interesting technologies for the sector such as blockchain, digital twins, sensors, chips, exoskeletons, etc., the study has not detected figures that can validate their use.
