Construction enrollment started the year growing by 2.5% more than in 2023

The average number of affiliates in the construction sector reached 1,376,209 working people in January, an increase of 2.5% over the same month in 2023, with 34,051 more affiliations, registering the best start to the year since 2011. The data published by the Construction Industry Observatory, based on figures from the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration showed a small decline from the previous month of -0.6%. 

In the General Regime, 972,380 people were enrolled, 3.3% more than in January 2023, with 30,945 more workers, although the monthly variation showed a fall of -0.7%. By economic activity, Civil Engineering registered the greatest increase in the number of workers with respect to last year, with 6.3% more, followed by Specialized Construction Activities (3.2%) and Building Construction (2.9%). On the other hand, the Self-Employed regime, with 403,829 affiliated persons, presented a monthly decrease of -0.5% but grew in the interannual rate by 0.8%.
