It's a mobile plant for precast beams

In the construction industry, the ability to efficiently organize resources is crucial to the successful execution of infrastructure projects. In this sense, Moldtech stands as a highly specialized pioneer in the delivery of comprehensive solutions with their mobile plants.

The continuous development of road infrastructure in Poland creates a steady demand for high standards precast concrete elements. This time, it is about a major road construction project under development in northern Poland, completing one stretch of the S3 Expressway and efficiently improving the connection between the seaports of Świnoujście and Szczecin.

Polaqua, a major engineering and construction group with a wide portfolio of projects in the country, was awarded the contract and decided to take a step beyond, by setting up a mobile precast plant for prestressed girders to carry out its own production.

After a thorough study, Moldtech was selected as supplier and entrusted with the design, manufacturing and installation of this mobile plant which will allow Polaqua undertake this and other future projects.

Moldtech is highly specialized in the supply of complete mobile plants for infrastructure projects that can be easily installed at construction site and quickly dismantled and transported to other part of the country once the project is finished. This type of plants is an interesting investment for large infrastructure contractors with continuous projects in distant parts of the country.

The supply consisted of 2 self-reacting prestressing benches and casting beds with 60m length and moulds for different types of girders. These self-reacting benches were designed to withstand a stressing force up to 600 Tn and can be easily installed in a temporary platform with a minimum concrete slab, not requiring expensive and permanent civil works foundations. All equipment can be dismantled in shorter length modules and transported in normal trucks.

These modular moulds allow for height adjustment to allow casting different type of girders to cover a wide range of Polish standard bridge girders, from T15 to T27 types, with up to 28m length.

Considering the severe cold weather conditions during many months of the year and the necessity to install the plant in an open-air facility, the moulds were equipped with a heating system by finned pipe circuit for hot water and tarpaulin covers; and a special containerized boiler system was also supplied. The mobile boiler includes 800 kW per hour water heater thus providing a considerable reduction in concrete curing times.

The supply also included other accessories such as tension jacks, hydraulic prestressing and de-tensioning units, lifting devices etc…

The plant, located near Świnoujście port, is efficiently running production at full pace to deliver high quality prestressed girders to the nearby bridges under construction.
