Cement consumption has increased to 8.1% at the end of the first eight months of the year, bringing the cumulative figure to 10,463,904 tons, 779,846 more than in the same period of 2024, according to the latest data published in the Cement Statistics and gathered by the Construction Industry Observatory.
During the two summer months, consumption has experienced double-digit growth, 11.6% in July and 13.1% in August, which has translated into higher than usual absolute values of 1,520,843 tons and 1,172,899 tons, respectively. In fact, in the case of July, one would have to go back to September 2011 to find a month with consumption exceeding 1.5 million tons. In total, 293,731 tons more were consumed during the past two months than in the same period of 2024.
