Conference on Cybersecurity in machine manufacturing environments

The conference, focused on cybersecurity in machinery manufacturing environments, is part of the securizAR project (financed by the IAF with file number 25/036-13) and was aimed at strengthening industrial cybersecurity capabilities for companies associated with ANMOPYC and CAMPAG.

The first speaker of the day was Gonzalo Bernal, CTO at INTEGRA, and during his speech he discussed the increase in cyber-attacks in the manufacturing sector with ransomware as the main threat. He highlighted the importance of increased cybersecurity awareness and the need for a proactive approach to risk management, including supplier certification and continuous improvement of security systems. He also suggested conducting security audits, implementing contingency plans to protect organizations, having support contracts, using multiple authentication factors for access to our organizations and network segmentation as some basic cybersecurity implementation measures in an organization.

Next, Eduardo Gistau Arbués, Head of Cybersecurity at HIBERUS, shared his experience in cybersecurity and highlighted the growing threat of cybercrime today. He emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous production in industrial environments and the need to unite IT and OT systems to ensure the competitiveness and security of organizations. He also discussed password management and cybersecurity implementation, advocating a balanced approach to protection.

Next, Rafael Del Hoyo, leader in Big Data and cognitive systems within the Instituto Tecnológico de Aragón (ITA), presented his experience and that of the ITA in forensic engineering in cyber-attacks using artificial intelligence. During his presentation he highlighted the success stories of how to create an intelligent assistant for security risk analysis or how artificial intelligence can help in the forensic analysis of cyber-attacks.

Finally, Álvaro Monclús, from the law firm SMF MONCLÚS, spoke about funding opportunities for cybersecurity projects in Aragonese companies. During his presentation, several calls for grants were mentioned and some brief clarifications were given about each of them.

The day concluded with a call for awareness and sensitization of the real threat posed by cyber-attacks to companies and some of the means we have to prevent them, such as conducting audits and diagnostics to identify cybersecurity risks.
