UNE Standard for the training of Rack and pinion elevating platform operators.

On January 30, the first meeting of the CTN-UNE 58/ SC 9 /GT 4 “Construction and service lifts” working group, coordinated by ANMOPYC, was held at UNE's facilities in Madrid to start developing a proposal for a purely national standard establishing the requirements and training procedure to qualify rack and pinion elevating platform operators.

Experts from manufacturers, rental companies, training centers, industry associations and public administration will participate in the development of this new standard in order to develop a standard that is agreed upon and accepted by the industry.

Specific training qualifies the worker for the use and/or performance of certain activities with specific work equipment that requires particular knowledge of the same (article 5.4 of Royal Decree 1215/1997 on work equipment).

Unlike preventive training, this specific training may be provided by external means (professionals or specialized companies: manufacturers, trade associations, etc.) as well as by the company's own means (provided that they have sufficient knowledge and experience).

This UNE standard, of a voluntary nature, aims to define the contents, conditions, evaluation criteria and other elements to be taken into account in the training and designation of rack and pinion elevating platform operators, their supervisors and trainers, in such a way as to enable them to use this equipment safely and responsibly.
