A vast country that holds enormous market potential for construction industry
Construction is one of the country’s leading industries and is currently benefiting from increased private investments and government support as part of the nationwide programmes.
The sector is showing impressive indicators:
- Over the last three years, Kazakhstan has witnessed massive increase in new construction projects and housing commissioned – this is expected to continue as the population grows.
- In January - February 2024, the volume of construction increased by 12%, reaching 356.6 billion tenge.
- In January–February 2024, the total area of residential buildings alone reached 2.1 million sq.m.
- The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is going to invest $1 billion by the end of the year. The focus sectors included environment, construction and modernisation of the social infrastructure.
- In 2023, the country reported economic growth of 5.1%. The key industries such as the construction sector grew by 12.3%.
Foreign direct investments (FDI) in Kazakhstan amounted to $19.7 billion over the first nine months of 2023; non-commodity sectors accounted for more than $11 billion of the amount. Investments in fixed capital rose by 13.7%.
Further development of construction industry will help achieve strategic goals of modernising infrastructure, improving the standard of living of the population and stimulating investment in the country's economy.
